shane mosley is the definition of gym rat, the guy is always going around sparring, prospects even when there isn't a fight lined up.
you could say james toney depending on your definition of gym rat Also from back in the day, Thomas Hearns, I think ended up coming in overtrained sometimes. Didnt he say he ran like 5 miles the night before the SRL fight? I remember something like that, though I cant remember the details.
Thats right, i remember DLH called him up for the PBF fight and he had to come on down and was ready in shape.
Nah mate, no drama making my weight. My everyday weight is only 3-4kg heavier than what i fight at, so no issue getting the weight off. The only time i guess it would be a problem is if i took a fight on real short notice. Hasnt happened yet, but id imagine i wouldnt be able to get under 81 in time. As an amateur mate, id really not go down the path of shredding water. Generally youll weigh in maybe 3 hours, if that, before you fight. Its no where near enough time i reckon. A better idea is to just train hard all year round; always keep in good shape and youll never have too much weight to worry about.
edwin valero is a gym rat. when he was suspended he continued to train and didn't miss a single day to the amazement of his trainers. i watched a doc about him on another website, he is super dedicated for real.
Hearns was a lot a thing but a gym rat he was not, that title belong the world first recognized Gym Rat Marvelous Marvin Hagler , Marvelous set the bar for all of todays fighters to follow. Holyfield worked very hard during Training camp but according to George Benton , he really had to light a fire under Holyfield's ass to get him to train, and at one point Benton told Holyfield he needed to quit boxing if he no-longer wanted to work hard in the Gym.
