Mike Tyson comes to mind first of all.

As a result his left hook was devastating!

I also wonder if its an advantage to fight orthodox as a left-hander because the jab is the most used punch in boxing, and you can come with some killer hooks...

    Opinions and insights...?

I maintain that the best thing to do is stick with one or the other. Both are very different from each other and can take a long time to master. And knowing both is not as useful as it seems.

The guys who are natural lefties might have had better left hooks but their right crosses suffered. In Tyson's case it didn't matter because he had genuine two fisted power.

I know it works well for Miguel Cotto. He is lefty and fights orthadox. He has a decent jab and a hell of a left hook.

Miguel Cotto is the best example currently, but he often switches to southpaw.

I think Hatton is left handed as well.

All southpaws should be shot! The stance should be made illegal! Seriously a lot of fighters pre 1990 were converted southpaws. Now a days conversion seems to of gone out of vogue.

Nothing wrong with southpaws at all!

Only thing wrong is that many of them are rather cagey, and therefore boring.

Mikkel Kessler is left handed. Might explain his wicked jab.
