Arslanbek Makhmudov somehow looks taller than 6 ft 5+1⁄2 in, or so it seems to me because of his massive build...
I did see Hopkins reach listed as 71 inches for the Trinidad fight I believe and somehow I doubt that. Although I am not sure.
Yeah, Makhmudov looks huge. Just look at this video from 36:45 when Makhmudov is entering the ring to celebrate with Beterbiev. This content is protected
If EE fighters have a hard time getting high profile fighters into the ring with them it might be smart to undersell themselves.
He doesn't look taller. It's because he's probably telling the truth and everybody else is lying. Theres a video of him with Fury ringside and he looked about 1 inch smaller which makes sense since fury probably is about 6ft 6.5
Nontshinga is taller than 5'5, probably more like 5'7. BoxRec just guesses for him, they used to have him at 4'11. BoxRec also has Rey Vargas at 5'7.5, he's usually labeled on TV as 5'10.5 and I've actually seen him measured barefoot, he is in fact 5'10.5. He's also much taller than the last supposedly 5'8.5 opponent he fought, O'Shaquie Foster.
Yeah, it's probably a case of not lying if they look taller than they seem compared to other lying fighters. It's always funny when you get two guys claiming they're 6 foot and they show up and one is a few inches taller. I think the only high-profile fighter I've seen who seemed to have an accurate height was Groves, because he could have called himself 6 foot, easily, but instead listed 5'11.5 or something, 182cm. Anyone else would say 6'1. Wlad is around 6'5, Hughie Fury exposed this where he said he was the same height in real life around those pressers when Wlad took his lifts out (that he was using for the Tyson face-offs). We know by that fight that Tyson is a little taller than Wlad, but only by 1-2 inches. We know then by comparison to Tyson that Wilder is also lying about his height, but in his defence, he can't count beyond a preschool level.
