I nominate first Wilfredo "Bazoooka" Gomez. He demonstrated this ability against Dom Yum Yem, Leo Cruz, Lupe Pintor and, officially, Rocky Lockridge.

He was fairly close also to demonstrating it against Salvador Sanchez and Anumah Nelson but crumbled both times after putting up a great effort trying to overturn the match's result.

I know two others that will be mentioned but will let you do that. Hints: one of the boxers I suspect was from Philadelphia and the other one was from Canada

    Let's see who you got!

The Philly one was Matthew Saad Muhammad I suspect.

I still won't forgot watching that second fight with Yaqui,I never watched the fight live and discovered om YouTube, but think about it.
How many boxers would be willing enough to trade and tank punches from a brawler despite having good boxing skills themselves?

He would eventually stop Yaqui in 14 later on.

Was the other Chuvalo? he took an early pasting from Quarry before summoning the left hook that scored the KO.

either way, I think the all-time winner when it comes to this topic has to be Ad Wolgast for his epic turnaround in his 40-rnd marathon vs. Battling nelson:

I thought it was Chuvalo too but I'm not sure because his resume is a bit thin.

    Bingo!

As far as Gomez revealed today that he had to be hospitalized after the Pintor fight and doctors told him he'd died had he not gone to the hospital when he felt sick. I know he was hospitalized after Sanchez, Nelson and Lockridge too.

I had never seen this.Thank you very much!

What a fight! And that Ad Wolgast, 72-1? Today, he'd won all the major belts in 3 or 4 divisions!!

Not one of my favorite fighters, but I gotta say Jorge Castro took one hellacious thumping from John David Jackson before pulling out a 1 punch KO in the 9th. The same could be said for Arnold Taylor in the 14th round of his first bout with Romeo Anaya after having been down about 4 times during the contest. Also Mike Weaver in the 15th round of his title-winning bout with John Tate. Although in this bout, Weaver never took a hammering, he was just outclassed in the previous 14 rounds. All of these contests could also come under the bracket of - dare I say it - a lucky punch.

Golovkin, I didn't think he won the 2nd Canelo fight but he damn sure made it close, especially after getting beat up the first stages of the fight. He also was getting beat up by Murata until the stoppage and got beat up throughout the Sir Gay fight but still eeked out a win.

The title gave me this idea. Ray 'Merciless' Mercer. Damiani, Cooper and Morrison knocked lumps out of him - Cooper broke his jaw, didn't he? And Morrison nearly broke him in two to the body - but Ray found a way. He nearly turned the trick on Lennox too, indeed some insist he did.

Of course, Ray could also find a way to lose which might disqualify him from this thread.

Frazier, Marciano, and maybe Old Foreman.

Frazier would always come forward into a beating and eventually his left hook would win out. I think the FOTC is a prime example of Frazier's ability to constantly get hit while never taking a step back.

Marciano is similar to Frazier but with a Susie Q instead of the left hook. Marciano would routinely be losing on scorecards until he tired out his opponents and battered them into oblivion (First Marciano vs Walcott fight is the best example of this).

Frazier and Marciano weren't boxers, they were GLADIATORS!!!

Old Foreman is an honorable mention just because he would slowly walk towards an opponent and get hit from all different angles until he landed one of his big power shots.
