Boxers who didn’t fight sober

I believe Jack Delaney had an alcohol problem toward the end of his career & there were rumors he entered his fight w/ Sharkey intoxicated.

Lew Jenkins was reported to sip alcohol in between rounds instead of water.

LaMotta has said he took a shot of whiskey before his title defense vs. SRR in order to offset his struggles to make weight.

 

Tyson also fought high off weed after he was released from prison.

Fury claimed he drank couple of beers before the first Wilder fight.

I don't know if he was literally drunk during fights, but the brilliant Benny Lynch was an alcoholic, who drank to excess, during at least the latter part of his career.

I'm pretty sure Ricardo Mayorga would have a drink or two along with cigarettes before a fight.

 

Under the tutelage of Cus, Tyson drank everyday by his own admission. I always thought the full sweat tyson would have when he entered the ring after a long calm walk and demeanor yet sweating profusely was defiantly connected to alcohol.
