It's a thought provoking thread this one.Very easy to start naming fighters who have good inside game but that's missing the whole point.

Great shout:good, although I would say Hopkins has always been as comfortable inside as out.

Oh my bad I was thinkin modern fighters. Yea basically fighters that started out as sluggers and brawlers like Sanchez and Barrera and turned into highly skilled technicians when needed be could go toe to toe with the best of them and went back to their roots. Toney was exceptionally well at this too. Sweet Pea not really known for this, but in rare cases excelled in this area too.

Whittaker and Leonard are the best shouts up to now.

    Good question this.

Why are you laughing at his choice of Pernell.
Whitaker was the first that came to my mind when I saw the thread. But he was so good on the outside that he rarely had to do otherwise.

When he had or wanted to fight on the inside he was great at it and actually dominated no other than Julio Cesar Chavez at it.

    Hagler
    Whitaker

I was going to say Toney, but I think he often did look for an inside fight. He was great at fighting off the ropes, he'd go there and hope the guy tried to make it a fight up close, which was a bad idea for Toney's opponent.

I think that smilie means you agree with the post quoted.

The word that shows up when you click it is "yep".

It's very easy to fall into that trap with this thread.I thought of Toney right away, but for him and Duran the inside game is amongst their strongest assets.
This is an excellent thread.Really gets you thinking.
