I do not think any professional boxer, especially those near or at the top are scared of their opponent. You need some serious cahones to try to make a living out of fighting.

Dirrell was fighting scared? Ummm ... he won almost every round up until that cheap shot. If anybody was scared it's the guy who always has his guard up unwilling to punch from the fear of being countered. That wasn't Dirrell that's for sure.

No fighters could gain the status of a Mayweather and Jones if they were "scared"

Jones didn't even remotely fight scared until he was pretty shot, and didn't want to get knocked out again I also thought that had to do with legs and stamina issues. Mayweather is yet to fight scared.

Roy Jones is known for holding his left hand down relaxed way below the belt, yeah, real scared.

 

I am sorry, Mayweather may not like getting hit, neither did Roy, but to call them scared is pretty ridiculous.
