I think in terms of how their careers panned out, you'd have to favour Charles in a series. Aside from Marciano and Overlin, he got the better of everyone, and Langford wasn't consistent at all.

If Langford bombs him like Walcott did, I can see him going down, but this is a man who got up 5 times vs Bivins and 8 times vs Lloyd Marshall.

I think Charles out-boxes him. He did out-box Joe Louis after all.

    I respect yours too!

    good post bro

I honestly believe Langford to be the superior boxer and if he connects properly then Charles won’t be conscious

Ezzard obviously had more success in his career but over 40 years had passed by then Langford was hindered by the social climate of his era plus most champions straight avoided him plus Langford had many more bouts and at a more intense frequency

I honestly believe if Sam had competed in Charles’ era he would have been a dominant heavyweight champ

this might sound crazy to you but I feel Marciano would trouble Sam more then Charles due to his style

I do rate Ezzard highly though truly a great fighter

    Langford never fought at Lightweight.

I think Joe Walcott, Young Stribling, George Carpentier, Willie Meehan, Len Harvey and Alabama Kid all did though.

Edit: Dick Burge fought Jem Carney at Lightweight, and Jem Smith at Heavyweight. Fought Kid Lavigne too, but there's controversey about how much he actually weighed for that fight.

He failed to make the weight against Joe Gans.

He weighed 140 after spending the day triying to run the weight off.

Guillermo Jones came close. He campaigned as a welterweight for a few years at the start of his career. A very tall welterweight.

What weight did MIckey Walker turn pro at?

He definitely went from Welterweight to campaign as a tiny heavyweight.

Dingaan Thobela started at lightweight and ended at cruiser. That counts if we're letting the old timers in.

No lmao Charles was declining by then. Prime Charles beat him twice. Walcott beat Charles at the end of his prime and should've lost to a past prime one.
I'm not surprised the bigger man and harder puncher KOed him. Are you?

Charles' first win wasn't controversial, and what I can gather from the 2nd it wasn't either. The 4th is razor thin but more people had it for Charles.

    Charles > Walcott.

He was 12 when he started boxing and started as a featherweight and by the time he retired from the ring was a heavyweight.
