I don't think Joe Louis belongs in that list, he was tormented by the IRS, a man who served in the war and didn't sneak away and hide. Then they took the hero that made USA proud eventually hounded him for money that he was freely giving away throughout his life. Disgrace...

Joe was a generous man who had nothing but love for his fellow man.. He didn't live lavishly , he just wanted to do good for his country and his race. I love Joe and its nasty that you can't turn back time.. He died poor and no one is sorry... There are some *******s on this ****ing planet..

He was having drug problems and are covering up the air vents in the hotel because he was convinced people were spying and listening to him. He ended up in a mental institution.

He "lost his mind" I'd say.

It's disgusting how the IRS treated him. People always talk about Muhammad Ali and how the government did him an injustice. True, but the way they did Joe Louis was worse.

And in 1971, the Supreme Court overturned the verdict in the Ali case. What did the country ever do for Joe Louis besides cancel his debts?

No it wasn't Cliff, but Cliff was nutts too, I remember sitting next to Cliff in 2001 in Caesars watching Mike Grant get stopped by McCline, Cliff borrowed my pen, to write an autograph for someone then stole the ****ing thing..

Cliff was nice but just didn't seem quite like a man you could trust..

It was funny when Marlon Starling was knocked out cold by a punch after the bell by Tomas Molinares and he kept saying afterwards that he wasn't knocked down. "He didn't hit me!".

He had forgot he was hit.

Just like when Robinson KO'd Fullmer, Fullmer didn't know he was KO'd, and asked his trainer "why is Robinson jumping up and down and doing exercises between rounds?"
