I'm gutted. He was such a professional and entertaining fighter, and a genuinely nice person Thoughts and prayers
I remember the night jupp beat him. After the build up it was so funny. Smith so disrespectful. Jupp schooled him.
Signed a deal with Matchroom apparently. Would be a good move for him. They have lots of big fights for Taylor from 140-147.
Darren Hamilton. Random blast from the past. British title holder. Lost to Woodhouse in a close one and was barely seen again.
Was thinking the same. Wonder what he's up to these days. He was such a cracking fighter, been in so many great scraps, got nothing but love for big John McDermott.
Met him on Oxford Street around 2014 while queuing for food and cheekily asked him if he indeed was John McDermott. Spent about 5 mins talking about his fights, the bad decisions at the end of fights that sickened him and he said he was working on the New Station at Tottenham Court Road. Did appear a decent guy and should have been a British Heavyweight Champion at least.
Remember the Roman Greenberg article though, where even his own manager had no idea where he was or what he was doing now. Cruising at 27-0, then boom, one loss to Cedric Boswell.....and....... nothing .
