Honestly- He beat up on some well past it welters. Napoles should have been a LW and all round his acting career impressed me more. Monzon was just there at the wrong time- he was a known gentleman a real peoples champion all of Argentina loved him and the case against him was laughably bad that's why they gave him a joke sentence why else would they let a "murderer" have such freedom?
Saoul Mamby said that he preferred to skip rope to increase his cardio, rather than do roadwork. He went 15 and closed strong on multiple occasions, so this training regimen appeared to work out for him.
Ya he was a heavy smoker with an engine that wouldn't quit.. and Hatton did his road work at his parents pub drinking beer and throwing darts .. James Toney was sparring only I think ,, that explains it right? haha
I do not think Carlos Monzon was a model family man, far from it. But inside the squared circle he was a confident, technical fighter who did what many greats in his division were unable to do, retire with their World Middleweight Title , he never lost his title in the ring. Again, you can only fight the opponents in your respective era's, not opponents from the past or future, so resumes mean absolutely nothing, zero, unless a fighter fattens his record by fighting the Senior Circuit Bunch. The skill you demonstrate and winning is what matters.
