    Well, Tyson came back to go to war with Ruddock and Douglas got knocked out in two rounds...so it might be the other way around.

    Even though he didn't win, he really poured out some punishment on Taylor.

    Most boxers weren't quite the same after they fought Hagler, the way he pick them apart and then knock them out!

    Boxing is one of the few sports where a bad night are often the end of the road. Youll see nfl and nba rookies going through tough patches and have great careers. Not the case in boxing.

    Oh come on now...he didn't pour out any kind of "punishment" on Taylor,...neither man exactly punished each other...it wasn't a Rocky movie, you know.

    Azumah Nelson pretty much ruined Fenech and Gabe Ruelas (though you could argue the Jimmy Garcia fight was what really ruined Ruelas) and Wilfredo Gomez's career as a top fighter was over after Azumah dispatched him as well.

    It would've been interesting to see how Salvador Sanchez would've recovered from his gruelling battle with Nelson but of course we tragically never found out.

    Seems like I've hit a nerve with you by criticising Iron Mike?

    If you read my post the way it was intended, I said the effect the Douglas loss had on Tyson was to his aura, not physical.

    And Douglas' 3 (not 2!) round loss to Holyfield was not as a result of physical damage sustained in his fight with Tyson, but likely related to his apparent loss of appetite for boxing, though certainly not his appetite for food!

    No, I just think it's kind of stupid and off topic. Tyson went into the Holyfield fight as a huge favorite and even was favored in the rematch. He still had (or regained) his aura.
