I doubt they would have. The idea behind the grill was that it would allow you to eat healthier and loss weight, which fit perfectly into what Foreman was doing at the time, which was making a comeback and lossing about 50-60lbs. Hogan was never really overweight to begin with. A couple of fighters such as Ali and Tyson can almost print money with their name recognition. Ali could get appearance fees, even with his limited ability to communicate, and Tyson was just on a roast of Charlie Sheen, and I'm sure has lots of business opportunities and there's no way Foreman received all of the 600M his grills may have generated. At most he'd probably get 5-10% of that, unless he was actually involved in the manufacturing and distribution of it. as opposed to just being a marketing figurehead. Here's a bit about Foreman and the grill i found on wikipedia The worldwide popularity of the George Foreman grill has resulted in sales of over 100 million units since it was first launched, a feat that was achieved in a little over 15 years. Although Foreman has never confirmed exactly how much he has earned from the endorsement, what is known is that Salton Inc. paid him $137 million in 1999 in order to buy out the right to use his name. This content is protected Previous to that he was being paid about 40% of the profits on each grill sold (earning him $4.5 million a month in payouts at its peak) so it is estimated he has made a total of over $200 million from the endorsement, a sum that is substantially more than he earned as a boxer.
Ali still gets a check any time any one puts the name "Ali" up on anything, T-Shirt, Mug, he gets paid
chris (oklahoma city) Speaking of the 140lb division, what happened to Urango? Is he ever fighting again? I know Ricardo Torres isn't a 140lb fighter anymore, but what happened to him? Has he even fought since losing to Holt? Dan Rafael (12:48 PM) Urango's promoter told me, literally, he bought a pig farm in his home country and has not heard from him in forever and can't reach him. Torres retired.
The average male in the united states lives to about 76. the average boxer retires in their late 30's to early 40's at the latest. So, that means they have to live 36 years on their savings most likely. So assuming they take a conservative approach to investing and are able to get 5% back on their money, they would have to live on $60K a year. which is fine for you or me but to guys who probably have their finances tied up doing other ****, are used to a much higher standard of living, and may have additional family members to support its a stretch to expect them to live on that.
nah Tiger Woods in his prime blew him out of the water, with all the endorsements from Nike, Tag, Gillette, Buick, Gatorade, plus his cut from his line with Nike, he was well worth that Billion dollar mark, then he stuck it into way too many chicks and **** imploded.
