Lewis had not talked about retiring before the Vitali fight, fact!

In the ring after the Vitali fight Lewis stated he'd grant Vitali a rematch, no problem.

    Days later, Lennox Lewis retires.
Vitali ran Lewis out of boxing, fact!
Great way to retire on top!

I like the way you spew the word ''fact'' at the end of your rants as if they are actually facts.

You do realise that when Lewis was due to fight Michael Grant he was mentioning retirement, don't you? Lewis was accused of overlooking Grant who was seathing at the indignation of it all. He was talking about fighting Tyson and how it would be a benchmark moment and a reason to think about retirement. Then, after he beat Tyson he did say that retirement was possibility.

Lewis didn't retire "days" after he beat Vitali either. I've no idea where you've pulled that one from. Perhaps you forget how people accused Lewis of holding the belt hostage for so long. He beat Vitali in June 03 and retired in what, Jan / Feb 04??

We'd all like to have seen a rematch, but those who have the slightest bit of objectivity about them don't really have a problem with Lewis bowing out when he did - especially seen as he'd just turned Vitali's face into mulch. Actually, beating Vitali was the perfect way for him to end his career.

Evander Holyfield needs to GTFO out of boxing!

SRL went on two long as Terry Norris and Hector Camacho will tell you

Hearns went on too long but he was still winning in his later fights (minus uriah grant)

Lennox Lewis retired at the right time. He has wins over the best fighter of the era to come before him (Holyfield) and the best to come after him (Vitali). Whatever the outcome of that fight with Vitali, it was the right time.

I think guys like Calzaghe and Hamed needed a couple more fights to really silence the critics. Joe could have beaten a prime slick American fighter, and Hamed could have had a couple more wins against decent belt holders.

DLH was a bit late, having not been able to secure a Mayweather rematch, he should have retired.

For every fighter that got out at the right, there's about 20 who didn't.

Lewis was not contemplating retirement before the Vitali fight.
Retirement is always mentioned when a fighter is past his mid thirties.
Lewis however did not give a mention that his fight with Kirk Johnson or his replacement Vitali, would be his last.

When just about everyone at ringside had Vitali leading on the card against Lewis, the rematch was being much anticipated by everyone.
Lewis had agreed to it at ringside but not fought again.

The two fighters that Lewis feared at the time because they were his size were Vitali and Wladimir.
Lewis saw the opportunity to grant Vitali a fight after Johnson dropped out because of an injury and he did so only because he knew Vitali would have two weeks to prepare while Lennox had a full training camp.

Vitali on two weeks notice was taking the rounds of Lewis that he was ahead on the scorecards.

What could Vitali do with a full training camp under his belt, Lewis did not want to and did not find out!:deal:bbb

It is the circumstances in which Lewis dropped out of boxing which leads many of us to believe he did not go out in a blaze of glory.
Lets be real here. The Staples center crowd was shouting Vitali's name as the the announcer announced Lewis the winner.

Than fans were left wanting to see a conclusion, Lennox Lewis decided that winning under the cirmcumstances that he did was good enough for him.
Anybody with any brains would conclude that if Lewis was confident he could beat Vitali, there would have been a rematch.
It would have been a big money PPV match to, and Lewis only had those vs Holyfield and Tyson.
He walked away from alot of money not wanting to get his ass kicked.
I for one cant really blame him. :yep

I dont get into the Lewis vs Vitali debate all that often, but it does crack me up a bit that before the Vitali fight, Lewis was trying to force a rematch with Tyson, and saying he was gonna snatch the S from Roys chest.... talking about how hes like a fine wine and that he gets better with age, with most indications that he will continue fighting and that the Johnson fight was never really thought of being his last fight.

Then Vitali gives him hell, and he retires.

Im not knocking it, just funny to look back on at how there was all this momentum with Lewis and how he was gunning for Tyson and Roy Jones, then in one fight with Vitali he retires lol.

Hes one of the few elite fighters that can say they went out on top though.

He wasn't contemplating retirement, yet was talking about it. Nice logic there. :good

    This **** again.

Yes, he was ahead on the cards. And? Being ahead on the cards doesn't mean a great deal when the left side of your face is pissing blood from multiple cuts.

Really? Because he beat equally big men before he fought Vitali.

Lewis had two weeks as well, you ****ing simpleton. You realise Vitali was training for Boswell on the ****ing undercard of Lewis - Johnson. It's not like they dragged Vitali off his couch.

    Oh, the "event" win.

Prime Lewis would have won every single round up to the KO of Prime Vitali

If there had been a round 7, old fat shot Lewis would have ended Prime Vitali's life.

But nice of you to not deny either of those and just cling on to the dreams of 'Lewis retired to avoid Vitali'

Lewis dominated Vitali towards the end and had Vitali clinging on to Lennox like Titanic style.

Nobody give a **** what 'Lewis promised' Lennox promise a lot of things.

Lewis was 90% high for that match and ate himself into a horrendous 260 pound whale shape.

I will not take anything Lennox says seriously at that time. Lewis was huffing and puffing by the end of the first minute. It's either a testimony to Lennox's greatness or to Vitali's utter shitness that he didn't even get koed in Round 1.

It's depressing for VItali fans though, that Vitali cared so much for that fight he trained all his LIFE for it, Lewis didn't even know which 'Klitscko' he was fighting.

But Lewis did beat Vitali. He has the 'w' and how he got it matter less at that stage in his career (the very end) I don't care what the crowd though, Vitali was injured badly enough by Lewis's punches that the fight had to be stopped. Not a clean win, but a win none the less.

This 'Divac' poster is a delusional ****ing gemlin that deserves to be shot to spare humanity his utter stupidity and ******ation.

You lucky the doctors stopped the fight moron. Look at the state of Vitali's face. Look at his face, Lewis was getting a 2nd wind dumbass, everyone knew it.

READ Lennox's lips you dumb ogre.

After Round 6, as Lewis walked to the stool HE SAID TO EMMANUEL

"I GOT HIM NOW MANNY, I GOT HIM NOW'

Read his lips, those were the exact words Lennox muttered.

He knew he was gonna knock out Prime Vitali in Round 7, the doctors ROBBED Lewis.

Don't make me paste Lennox's career resume and h2h scenarios mother ****er.

Does giving him hell count as having half his face ripped off?

    Just wondering?
