Tito Trinidad is one of the nicest people I’ve ever met and known let alone boxers. Ruben Olivares, Carlos Ortiz, Eder Jofre, Danny López, Yaqui López, Frank Duarte, Alfredo Escalera, Michael Spinks etc; lots of boxers are lovely people and many have done great things for others.
Max Baer was a genuinely good person. There are many examples of this that are public record but I also have a second hand account. My grandma got to meet and cook dinner for him one time years after he retired and she said he was very humble and kind.
Ezzard Charles would never fight anyone outside of the ring, and literally sometimes gave friends the shirt of his back.
Eder Jofre comes to my mind first. A well developed, talented individual in all areas, with strong character physically and mentally. You couldn't ask for much better as a boxing role model.
Tiger Flowers. On this side of the pond, nearly all the boxers I have met and spoken to were very nice people, were they " great " well not sure, but good honest men, among the best ( given they were all gentlemen ) + Mark Rowe Alan Rudkin Ken Buchanan Vernon Sollas Dave Green and many many more, sorry @Noel857 but Honeygan was a nasty, spiteful, loudmouthed, pig of a man. stay safe guys.
Actually our former poster here Tim Witherspoon is said to be a great guy with a good sense of humour.
Mike Weaver was properly Christian which typically has someone behaving well. Preferred painting to boxing - I’ve heard him described as a gentleman many times.
