    At their own game.

For instance, Tommy Hearn's was never outboxed.

Tua was never outbrawled. Ike held his own for 3/4ths of the fight and then even he had to resort to boxing towards the end. Not to mention he probably ended up quasi-******ed or brain damaged from opting for that.

No disrespect 'Russell'.... isnt the nature and design of 'Boxing', much the same of chess?? To set your opponent up, and put him to sleep???

I understand where you are coming from... yet Hearns had been KO'd by Haglar... and also KOd Duran...... not too mention approx 30, out of the first 33 men he faught. So, this is clearly a part of his style/game...... therefor, IMO... he had been "outboxed", in the terms of his ability.

Yes, I'm aware of him being outbrawled by Hagler, where his lack of durability was his downfall. But who ever outboxed Hearn's?

That's what I'm asking. Fighters who were all but impossible to beat in their specialized fields, regardless of other fighters trying to adapt to them.

"Outbox" is such an overused, meaningless phrase.

To some people it means jabbing someone to death, and little else.

Alot of people on the General forum think "outbox" means potshot and run away.

I'm pretty sure Leonard "outboxed" (read: beat) Hearns when he KO'd his ass.

BTW - Chris Byrd thoroughly owned Tua at close range. Lennox owned him at long range.

You guys are missing the point. And i would consider outboxing to be landing the cleaner punches and avoiding getting hit with them. Another example would be Whitaker, in my mind he wasn't clearly beaten until Trinidad and in that fight, to me, it looked like Whitaker was trying to slug with him. It was probably because of his waning skills and reflexes. So to sum it up, he was never outboxed

How does that work when you get KO'd like Hearns did?

He may have won a few battles but he certainly lost the war. And with it... the fight.

    Cant see Pep being outboxed.

Cant see Armstrong being outworked on the inside.

Nothing is impossible tho but those things would be hard for anyone without a huge size advantage to pull off IMO.

It took Tua forever to insert his keys into the ignition and start up his engine that night. His workrate was poor and Ike really had him outscored until around the 7th.

I think he's mistaking heavy hands for work rate here.
