Guys who came to boxing after their serious HS/college athletic careers in other sports ran their course.

Not sure what happened to my original thread w/ the same name (mods??) but a few of the names mentioned were:

    James Toney
    Terry Norris
    Deontay Wilder
    Tim Witherspoon
    Curtis Cokes
    Tyrell Biggs
    Al Cole
    Bryant Jennings
    Bonecrusher Smith
    Buster Douglas
    Seth Mitchell
    Ross Purity
    Michael Grant
    Chazz Witherspoon
    Derrick Jefferson

Any others? Few were world beaters but they had fairly impressive careers and went very far in the sport considering that most picked up boxing as young adults. Makes you wonder what could have been if other athletes had tried boxing instead of basketball or football, etc.

Didn't Marciano play football in high school?

Anthony Joshua played a lot of sports before going into boxing.
