Damn! Never heard that one before. Duran didn't strike me as that cold blooded but who's to say he didn't? I read he owned a beach in Panama for a while ad put up no signs saying he owned it - just so he could batter anyone who unknowingly walked onto his private land. Crazy dude.

Glad to see Tex Cobb got an early mention.

    I'd include:

Johnny Tapia, who would probably cut your throat for a quarter if you caught him at the wrong time

Ron Lyle, who just looks downright scary

James Scott, there's a reason he's in Rahway with a huge scar on his chest

Ray Mercer, 'cause what you gonna do after you break a bottle over his head and he's still standing there grinning?

George Chuvalo. One of the strongest fighters ever, best chin ever, and his naturally fighting style resembled that of a seasoned bar fighter.

Marvin Hagler. He only got madder and madder the more he got hit and he became a better fighter when he was mad.

Tyson destroyed Mitch Green's face in the street fight.

Interviewer:Speaking of Mitch 'Blood' Green, he was the first man never to touch the canvas against Mike. Did Mike have a problem with Green's style or did he underestimate him?

Kevin Rooney:It was Green's style. All Green was doing was counterpunching. He wasn't leading. Green fought a defensive fight and didn't look to engage. He only looked to survive. Mike beat the **** outta him! When you got a guy who's 6'4", that doesn't want to lead or exchange, he's hard to fight - and he's definitely hard to knock out. Also, Mitch has always been pissed off about his situation with Don King. That's what lead to that street fight in Harlem in front of that clothing store. Green took a slug at Mike and Mike blasted him.

On the street, Mitch Green was a bad mother****er, supposedly led a gang of 100 soldiers. There was a funny as hell interview on this site with him a few years back where he was claiming he could KO either K bro... and he was over 50 years old at the time.

If Lewis was pissed off, he'd be a pretty scary guy. If he went after someone the way he did against Golota, or Tyson, or Vital he'd be a good guy to have in your corner. And he showed against Grant, and a couple of others that he doesn't mind breaking the rules if he was worried about getting hurt.

Vitali would be someone else that could put a pretty good beating on ya if you pissed him off. But neither of these guys would start fights the way Tyson would.

Since I'm focusing on superweights, add Bowe to the list of guys I wouldn't **** with.

are you talking pro boxer vs average joes?

Mike Tyson, David Tua, Vitali Klitschko (say what you want about him being boring or whatever, good luck reaching an iron chinned 6'8 goliath) , Rocky Marciano and Smokin' Joe Frazier

Roberto Duran, Julian Jackson, Ruben Olivares, Marvin Hagler, Manny Pacquiao would wreck house too. I bet they'd drop even big guys

Seeing the thread title immediately reminded me of a quote by Lou Duva regarding Andrew Golota, so I'll give the Foul Pole a shout.

Green was probably a better street fighter than Tyson.

He approached Tyson and his little crew, by himself (which would take some balls) and they got into an argument.

Green didn't swing at Tyson, Tyson hit him and they fell over and started wrestling. As soon as Mike could he got up and ran.

Mitch was pissed he'd been suckerpunched and that Tyson had ran and chased him down the street to the car Tyson was getting into. As Tyson drove off Green pulled the wing mirror off.

A swollen eye? I wouldn't say he "destroyed his face."

1 vs 1 on the street Mitch Green would have kicked Tyson's ass.

I've known a lot of guys (idiots mostly) wake up the next day after fighting and they have face swollen like Green had. They weren't fighting no Tysons either. Green's face was damage you could expect in any fight.
Tysons getting 'street fighting medals' here simply for being Tyson.
There was no street fighting heroics here. In fact, it didn't sound like it was much of a fight.
Tyson landed the first blow, broke his hand, and ran off with Green chasing him. Green did nothing but shoot his mouth off.
