I agree. But that goes for the state of the division for quite some time that Stiverne was ranked.

    Here's one: Victor Ortiz

"The Tree" has given us a handful of truly great action fights. Doesn't mean he's great, doesn't mean you have to like him. But you can't be someone who loves a great boxing war and not give loads of respect to Ortiz. Being that just about every boxing fan loves a great boxing war and Ortiz gets a whole bunch of flack, hate, and seldom any appreciation, he seems to fit the bill more than perfectly.

George Foreman. Foreman was perhaps the most destructive force ever seen in the heavyweight division. But because Ali captivated everyone's attention, he was relegated to a lesser fighter. Not so. In my opinion, Foreman was one of the best, if not the best, heavyweight ever. It is unbelievable what he did when he came back, at his age. He truly was superhuman. The fact that he lost to Ali in Zaire in a very partisan atmosphere doesn't lessen his career. In a fairly contested fight, he would have beaten Ali 4 out of 5 times. The biggest disappointment is that he took the loss so deeply and stepped away from boxing for so long. This is the only thing that kept HIM from being The Greatest.

Orlando Salido beat Lomachenko, Juanma Lopez, and Robert Guerrero three guys listed in the p4p top 10 was a two weight champ and had seven fights worthy of fight of the year accolades. A diamond in the rough, he could have been elite if he'd had the proper training and management.

Chris John never entered the p4p lists even though he beat Juan Manuel Marquez, went undefeated in his first 51 fights and defended his title 18 times. I just saw this guy's fight with Marquez and he was as good as Pongsaklek Wonjongkam or Ivan Calderon, definitely a p4per.

Definitely agree! Met Takayama and he’s an incredibly nice guy but man, he’s been in some amazing wars and even went 12 with Roman Gonzales. These guys definitely deserve more credit.

Speaking on a different Japanese fighter, saw Masayuko Ito vs Christopher “Pitufo” Diaz a few weeks ago and even though Ito destroyed Pitufo, he was getting little to no credit from the announcers which ironically included Tim Bradley. Just irked me listening to them and your comment reminded me how some of fighters haven’t gotten much credit over the years even now.

Used to get tired of Holmes whining about not getting his "just due"

Ditto. What turned a lot of people off about Holmes was that he had no class. He said things like "Marciano couldn't carry my jockstrap" when asked how he might do against Marciano. Holmes was an outstanding HW. He should have just kept his mouth shut and let people judge and not be so sensitive to the fact that he followed in Ali's footsteps.

Interesting you'd say Carbajal didn't get his due respect. I remember he was the first little guy of his era to get that big mil $ purse.

Are you stating afterwards? Or maybe I was surrounded by pro Carbajal fans & didn't know how others felt about him.

Asian boxers are like the Rodney Dangerfields of boxing, they get no respect.

    Andre Ward.

Even if you ignore him exposing Kovalev....Well, exposing him to a greater degree than Hopkins.

    He was terrific at SMW.

It's sad that the majority of those who don't give him credit are his fellow countrymen.

    Ricky Hatton

Lack of real 'Elite' technical quality.

But you're guaranteed that he will give you absolutely everything.....Level headed, and would buy you a drink in his local.

The US is lacking a fighter like him right now.
