Bernard 'Superbad' Mays - Malt liquor

Jose 'Toluco' Lopez - Pulque (indigenous drink)

    Both ruined brilliant prospective careers.

This list is potentially enormous . Most people never heard that Frankie Randall was practically living out of his car with a serious drug problem when Don King called to feed him to Chavez. Unfortunately for Chavez Frankie had time to get ready as his weight was never an issue and he whipped his azz. He also beat him again and was robbed of that win. After that he pretty much went back to his destructive life style. Huge waste as a focused Randall was a handful.

Ricky Womack. Terrific amateur, just couldn't keep his head on straight. Violent, psychotic impulses.

Donovan “Razor” Ruddock. Started out as a decent boxer with a great jab and fell in love with his own power and became a one trick pony. Could have been something special if he had learned to incorporate the tremendous power he had with his initial boxing abilities.

He was a boxer. His talents were wasted in the amateurs.

At the risk of setting CJ off, was it the 'hooker' that was wrong or the steroid-fuelled, egomaniac sociopath who drove a car into a wall with an innocent young person in it? Seems to me, someone like that could call anyone and things will be at risk of going horribly wrong.

Kirkland Lang . Disappeared after Duran smoking spliff in London. Missed out on big fights and big dosh.
Who knows what would of happened.

What was the issue with Taylor? Did he have some substance issue? He really did everything successfully in his career (amateur and pro) other than win that elusive world title. But he put everything into it against 3 very good champions and had top class wins for himself. Just curious.

Tyson saw him as the best of the best in the amateurs.

Ramos and Moore punched a young Chris Eubank all over the ring. Badly.

I really don't know how good Lang was to be honest, he was at the right place at the right time though. I can't remember where I heard it , being so long ago, but there was a rumor Duran was out drinking heavy like 2 or 3 days before the fight. I never heard it confirmed but judging by his performance it would be evidence of it's truth.

Ah you beat me to Mays! He's always the first I think of and there has been a lot of wasted potential.
