I heard Tommy Ayers had a substance issue. Wasn't he from the Kronk too? That kid had talent.

James Tony…as successful as he was, if had had the discipline that Bernard Hopkins had I think he’d have been one of the ATGs

It's insane just how much Ramos abused himself. How he ever performed as remotely as well as he did i will never know.

Not totally sure, but he didn't fight LaPorte or Lockridge and a couple of others, and even though he may have done enough to beat Pedroza, wasn't truly impressive in that draw with him. I think that set the tone for his career.

No doubt he did, but losing to Vilela and Bumphus wasn't the best look. May have helped if he didn't fight Curry in 1982 as well.

Very interesting list. I think Ramos just didn't pan out as a pro similar in ways like Breland minus the title.
Bernard Taylor just stayed amateur too long and then he did have three shots at the title but fell short.
Johnny Carter had his shot but Chandler are him up.
Moore was just rushed way too quick.
Starling was one of those fighters who could sleepwalk at times.
    Great list.

I think it was March 84 at Gleasons when he needed to be knocked down a peg or two after doing well against Breland for a round in the ams /getting cocky.

I remember Emanual Steward saying Toney had a mental problem with eating. He ate when he wasn't hungry for some reason. Sad as he should have never fought over say 175 to a maximum of 190

No doubt you can look at the fight and tell Duran was going through the motions at best. Alas, Roberto did that quite a bit during the 80s.
