I've always wondered this, but can boxers who suffer from Asthma use their inhaler before a fight or even during it? Its rare to hear boxers with asthma, anyone have a list of good/great boxers who suffered from it?

I have mild Asthma and fight amateur. I don't know about pro rules but I am allowed to take inhaler puffs right up till the fight and am required to have one of my coaches hold onto it during the fight. I don't think I can use it in between rounds. Only thing allowed during the match is water. I think you would have to forfeit if you needed to use it during the fight.

Can't imagine being allowed to use an inhaler during a match, because fighters would be doing that **** every chance they get.

3 year bump for the win. I have asthma and it sucks knowing I could never become a boxer if I wanted to.

At least when the next war draft comes Shannon Briggs and I are on easy street.

Asthma inhalers, for the most part are Steroids.

I believe an Asthmatic Boxer who has been diagnosed and treated for chronic asthma would have difficulty getting licensed to begin with.

Unless its minor, but if you watched the Documentary assault in the Ring, Resto explains that Asthma steroid pills were crushed up and mixed with water

It is a steroid, but all it does is reopen the bronchiole tubes of an asthmatic to (almost) normal levels after they start to swell and close.

An inhaler won't do anything for a non-asthmatic because their bronchioles are already open and not swollen. Except maybe get them high if they inhale enough of it.
