"In an instant Tyson fired one right hand, gold rings and all ,right between Green's eyes, inflicting a wound that would take 5 stitches to close its eyes.
In the ensuing scuffle Green broke the rear view mirror off Tyson's Rolls Royce.
Both men then went to hospital..Green to North General to be stitched up.Tyson to Manhattan's Mt Sinai to have his hand looked at". Tyson by Peter Heller.Chapter15 ,page 274.

Not only did Liston fight cops, philly cops no less, who loved fighting in those days, but he was a collector for mafia guys and also a strike breaker.

So the guy fought with cops, 1930s and 40s union guys, and random philly miscreants.

Jeff Fenech pole axed a 225-230 pound bouncer in Atlantic City from memory. It was pretty well publicised. May have been at a Tyson fight from memory and pretty sure Jeff was a Featherweight at the time. Heaps of street fights when he was young and no doubt a few we don't know about. Pretty bad egg outside the ring.

Remember a story about Colin Jones decking a rugby player in a welsh nightclub.

    1. Sonny Liston, if you know his history there's no need to explain
    2. Jack Dempsey ,fought guys in mining camps before he turned pro.
    3. Roberto Duran, was fighting sailors was he was 13.
    4. John L. Sullivan, maybe the most underrated street fighter here. Was said to have knocked out over 400 men.

Shaun Cumming's story is both interesting & horrifying.
From Leicester, UK, down the road from where l am. He was a decent MW, fought for the European title.
He was notorious as a 'debt collector' & doorman. A nasty piece of work, also a known racist.
He had a bad motorcycle accident, leaving him paralysed.
Soon after, his carer murdered him & cut him up with a chainsaw.
He was found guilty of murder, but few people mourned the passing of Cumming's

I heard Rahman say on a podcast recently that when he got shot he saw the guy the next day and knocked him out. Rahman would of done better against most of the best Heavyweights out the ring than in the ring.

Some guys that haven't been mentioned yet:

O'Neil Bell - Grew up street fighting and before he was a boxer he was a state champion amateur wrestler in high school. Towards the end of his career his life was plagued by mental health issues and it was even said that he threw an axe at someone in training!

Dominic Negus - Was a bouncer/debt collector among other things before, during and after his boxing career. Turned his life around after an attempt on his life in a gym where he fought three guys off after being attacked with a baseball bat and taking an axe to the head!

Danny Hodge - Was arguably the best collegiate wrestler in history having never being taken down in college, Olympic Silver Medalist in Freestyle Wrestling then went to boxing where he became Golden Gloves Champion and had a few Pro fights including a loss to Nino Valdes. He was known to have double tendon like grip strength that he could break pliers with his bare hands! There is stories of him choking people out on bars, fighting Navy/sailors and putting Pro Wrestlers in their place when they wanted to try it with him when he went into that business.

Dillian Whyte - Got shot twice and stabbed three times, didn't exactly grow up easy.

Matthew Saad Muhammad - Was in street gangs before he turned his life around.
