Brian Nielsen was never a top 10 contender ESPECIALLY at that particular time.

He had no case for beating Kovalev the first time. 0. Then the second time he beats Kovalev by an awful ref early stoppage (compare the punishment Kovalev took vs Yarde and then vs Ward. Laughable) after repeated low blowing. Then he retired lmao.

Before anyone goes at me for the low blow remark. Yes Andre Ward landed a right hand... But what immediately preceded that? Low blows and headbutts. Those illegal punches opened him up for the right hand. Then after the right hand he continued throwing low blows. Followed by the dumbest obvious paid for ref early stoppage. Absolute joke that he didn't give Kovalev a rematch.

And also, Andre Ward at 168lbs was a weight bully. There I said it. People like to forget that. He was absolutely huge which helped with his wrestling and bullying tactics (let's not go into illegal tactics - excessive clinching, headbutt elbows etc.). He campaigned at LHW in the Olympics and then went down to 160-8lbs for the pros. You look at the top amateurs who fight at a certain weight at Olympics, they usually stay at that weight in the pros or move up. Weight bully Ward went down.

He's up there with Mayweather Clenelo levels of fraudness.

Ward is nowhere close to either of Floyd or Canelo.

He is one of the more overrated fighters on here.

He has a very good resume at 168, but has no serious legit wins at any other weight, and should never have had a top five p4p ranking.

Floyd and Canelo both have very good bodies of work at multiple weights.
