cant believe how many people are saying Hopkins would beat Jones in a rematch, I would venue to guess that most of you saying that didnt see that fight. The fight wasnt close and Jones had a broken hand, he beat Hopkins just using his jab and left hooks. Hopkins for his part never had confidence that he couls actaully beat Jones would is pretty clear by the fact that he was demanding 50/50 money even though Jones was the name, and had the titles not to mention the win. Even after Jones fall off and started to lose fights Hopkins wasnt that hot on making the fight with Jones.

Another one is Floyd Castillo....How many rematches did he need to beat Floyd, because I recall him losing the second fight pretty handily.

Your counting Jones' broken hand, yet ignoring the fact of how much BETTER Hop got after that fight. Hop, tho having around the same amount of professional fights as Roy had, didnt have nearly the amateur career Roy did. That was no where NEAR a prime Bernard Hopkins.

I have seen the fight, watched it quite a few times (Hop and Jones are two of my favorite fighters...all time), and it was close...but if that rematch happened after the Tito fight, like they had "tried" to make it. I have no doubt, THAT version of Bernard would have defeated Roy.

Of course they were too stubborn (YES BOTH OF THEM...I hate it when Hop fans blame Roy and Jones fans blame Bernard) to make it happen...so we will never know. And now, Bernard probably shuts him out.

Now after that part about Hopkins not having an amatuer career proves you dont know what your talking about. Hopkins was 98-5 as an amatuer, Jones 121-13 as an amatuer. Hopkins was nubmer 1 Jones was number 2, Hopkins was 27 Jones 23, Hopkins had been a pro longer and had more fights, yet you want us to believe that Hopkins got better and Jones didnt???

I know fully what I am talking about. I think its you that doesnt have your facts/opinions straight

Jones had more (31 fights isnt MUCH more....couldve fooled me??), at a much, MUCH higher level of amateur boxing. Are you denying that.

Then you mention the age difference...which further shows your lack of knowledge (or lack of bias) toward the subject. While Jones was representing the US in the olympics...Hop was representing cell block C on the chow line. BIG DIFFERENCE!!!! Hop's amateur and pro careers were set FAR back by prison. Are you denying that?

And the pro experience thing is also skewed in your post. Hop fought once in 88 (and lost)...then took a two year layoff. Jones fought straight since 89. Jones was 21 and 0...Hop was 22 and 1....BUT, factor in the amateur backgrounds and Jones was the much more seasoned fighter....against the better competition. Or are you denying that?

Now, we go to the getting better thing. Since they fought both fighters had gotten better, but you can see with your own eyes that Hop evolved into an entirely different fighter....Jones stayed the same, just further perfected his skills. Any denying on that fact?

The Hopkins that beat Tito and the one we have seen since then, has been on another level than the one Jones had become at that point. Hopkins has beaten since then...Tito, Joppy, Tarver (a hell of alot more impressive than Roy did), Oscar, Taylor (most feel he won at least 1 of those fights) and Eastman to name a few. Jones has fought Ruiz, Woods and Tarver...to name a few. So he has fought better comp than Jones since Tito (when the rematch was supposed to happen) and has looked better doing so. Or again, are you denying that?

Now you seem to me like someone who either loves Jones or hates Hopkins (showed so by JUST blaming Bernard for the rematch not happening). So I dont expect you to have a fair opinion. But, look at the above and tell me Hop wouldnt have won that fight....if you still say yes....your insane.

With both being two of my favorites, I tend to have a different view on this than most. So, please, do your homework next time before accusing someone of lacking knowledge on a certain subject.

As for Jones - Johnson...that incarnation of Jones couldnt beat Johnson, even now. If the fight had happened earlier in their careers, then yes...it would have been EASILY Jones. But a rematch, after he was so overmatched in the original....I dont know.

And Im sorry, but Tyson just could not beat Evander at any point. Holyfield was just all wrong for Mike (as shown in their first fight...and was already being shown in the rematch). Mike Tyson could not beat Holyfield...
