Here are some of the boxers I have expectations from this year: 1. Julio Cesar Chavez - at 41-0 , 24 years old, and in a division full of big names like Miguel Cotto, Antonio Margarito, Sergio Martinez, Alfredo Angulo, James Kirkland, Paul Williams, and Kermit Cintron, I expect to see Julio step up this year. Even if fighting one of these big names may be too much, there are also other formidable opponents that he could face like Joel Julio, Yuri Foreman, Cory Spinks, and Eryslanda Lara. 2. Yuriorkis Gamboa - at 19-0, 29 years old, and in a division full of big names like Juan Manuel Lopez, Chris John, Daniel Ponce De Leon, Hozumi Hasegawa, Rafael Marquez, Jhonny Gonzalez, Steven Luevano, and Bernabe Concepcion, its time Yuriorkis stepped up. He is not getting any younger and too move on to bigger and better pay days, he has too be hungry enough to take on these names right now. 3. Floyd Mayweather Jr. - after fighting only once in 2010 and not taking on the big fight the boxing world wants to see, it will only take one fight, and one fight only, to make the fans forgive "Money" for the past 3 years. Who else could you add to this list.............?
I know you're going to talk ****, but I actually see him stepping up. He'll fight one of the Klitshko's this year or his mandatory
I dunno why people are expecting anything of JCC Jr. I've only seen a few fights of his but I remember one opponent making a big deal about he took a whole two weeks off work to train for the fight (!?). Sven Ottke could have learned a lot from junior. Anyways, boxers I expect to step up are Haye (if Wlad lets him, with no stupid conditions) Mayweather Ward (by 'step up' I mean actually leave Oakland, like for a vacation or funeral or something). Khan (enough of the feather-fisters already, and hanging on for the last 3 rounds against an above average fighter doesn't make you an ATG). Froch (just kidding).
Not **** talking, I think he will too. I just think his time at HW has been more than a little disappointing so he needs to step it up.
Luis Garcia. He boxes over here (Ireland). Incredible talent. Should be in the mix for a world title by the time the year is out.
Luevano was a paper champ lucky to won that belt, he's not much of threat for the top 3 or 4 on that division, same with Bernabe, he's too crude to hang around either, Gonzalez is been koed a few times now, Chris Jonhn turned down a fight against Gamboa and Marquez and Lopez has unfinished bussines (I think tha Marquez is a little too old and small for these fighters, then again he almost koed Lopez, it was a shame the injured) Ponce De Leon should b a good fight, but it will b better Gamboa vs Juanma, oh you forgot to mention Barros, Gamboa beat him easy and he just pick up a Belt, Rojas a very good warrior that has fought everyone between 118-126lbs having draw with Johns and losing a 12th round dec, Salido is a very tough fighter, losing the majority of his fight back when he was a teenager, and went 12 rounds with La Cobrita Gonzalez and another 12th with Marquez his last loss back in 2004, before losing a split decision against Cruz, loss that he avenged 8th months later. As I c it, Only Juanma, Hasegawa and later around PDL are the only step up he needs to do, and it will b an step up for Gamboas opponents too.
