To his fans? That's disappointing if so. I wouldn't mind meeting him. He would be on my short list of athletes worth meeting. Just as much for his accomplishments out of the ring. The things he overcome like Prison and everything that goes with that life. Just to be a productive citizen nevertheless a World Champion boxer.
If I tried to type them all in my fingers would cramp up. I met the P4P GOAT (IMHO) in the early 50's, twice! I can't top that one.
Hey! You sold me peanuts. You didn't tell me you had hotdogs! Some friend you are! Great fight overall, but a bit boring at times.
Who remembers Billy Aird ? A Liverpudlian heavy active in the 70s/80s. I never actually met Billy face to face but I had a telephone conversation with him. I was out with a friend approximately twenty years ago and we started to talk boxing when he asked if I recalled Billy. I replied that I did,so my friend told me that he worked with him. Next thing I knew he'd got Billy on the phone and we were talking for about ten minutes. We discussed his fight with Euro champ Alfredo Evangelista. A lot of you may remember that Billy got screwed by a hometown decision in that one. Nice chatty bloke.
