I can understand why he didn’t fight Wlad, but it might have been interesting knowing what Wlad would become.

I'd have liked to have seen a fight between pre-Steward Lewis against Herbie Hide, that could have been an upset IMO.

I am another that always wanted the Sanders fight. Ibeabuchi is an interesting possibility & I like his chances better than say, Bowe.

Lewis almost certainly beats that Wlad.

Give Wlad a few more years, and it is a different fight.

It is obvious now in hindsight, that Vitally was the best available challenger for Lewis, in his last year as champion.

Strangely enough, wlad and Lewis did fight but it was an act during Ocean's 11.

You forgot to mention that he avoided my mother and she's not even alive.

You do realize that prior to the Wlad fight few boxing fans even knew who Corrie Sanders was and certainly the general publoc had no idea kind of hard to make a business case for this fight but if you want to try, be my guest.

Hey, if Lewis could fight Botha or Mavrovic, he could have fought Sanders. 1997-2000 Sanders was WBU champion. Yeah, I know, but what belt did Lewis' other contestants have?

Sanders found it hard to get big fights for 2 reasons imho.

    1) His promoter was junk and couldn't get him the big fights
    2) He was high risk and low reward.

It is admittedly difficult to make a case for any of the big name heavyweights of the time to face an awkward, big hitter like him when they could make a lot more money fighting somebody else easier to deal with.

He also has himself to blame. If he had been really active in his prime, fighting 4 times a year, in the States, I think that he would have forced people to take notice. The same way Tyson did. Unfortunately his easy-going attitude to training seems to me to have extended to his career as well. :-( A real pity.

Let's not act like Ruiz, Byrd, or Moorer would have had any chance.

Byrd would have had a 10 INCH reach disadvantage, and given up 5 inches in height.
