Who do you place your boxing bets with...??? A web based service (seems like there is quite a lot of these), a bookie, a casino sportsbook...??? Co-workers...???

i use stanjames.com all the time

odds are not that competitive but the service is very reliable and i play poker there too.

There are quite a few posters here who bet on fights all the time.

When I bet on fights I tend to do it when I'm in Vegas. I've gone out there specifically just for betting on fights, strictly. I'd love to get the online betting thing down. I live in California, and from a little bit of superficial investigation, from what I understand we're one of four states that has laws against sports gambling on the internet. It's illegal. Of course there are probably millions of Californians who bet anyway, and there supposedly haven't been any convictions, but it's been something to keep me from making a push - that and the $500 limit on some of these sites. When I bet, I tend to drop at least a G. $500 on a clear favorite in a close fight isn't ****. Winning $150 isn't so much worth it to me after all the Western Union nonsense, ect.

It's tought from right here...that's why I was lookin' for some advice...looks like you've checked it out too.

The online thing just doesn't look too easy for us...the depositing and withdrawls...with Big Brother always wanting to look up our ass.

I know a guy who is on the phone with his bookie everyday, but I didn't really want to go that route. Unfortunately it seems the safest...

I agree, it just seems like a lot of hassle. I won't rule it out completely, but for now I'm just going to keep trucking out to Vegas. The numbers on Sportsbook always seem better anyway. It is a pain in the ass to go all the way out there though, I can't lie.

I use to use to sportsbook.com or bodoglive.com to place my bets. Whichever had the better odds for who I was betting on but they're usually right around the same.

The thing about online is they make it a hassle to withdraw the money. I think it was bodog or something like that where my buddy who played poker on there and placed bets said if he wanted to withdraw he had to take his credit card that he deposited the money with, put a piece of paper over it. Then with a pencil with an eraser, erase over the name and credit card number so it would make an indention in the paper. I couldn't believe it when he told me and he's not one to lie, but maybe he was wrong I'm not 100% sure.

Even if you don't do that, with online it's hard because if you want to keep betting, you don't want to withdrawal just to re-deposit. Then they throw in it takes two weeks to get your check in the mail. But bodoglife.com is good to start because they usually have deposit bonues, where if you deposit lets say $100, you can get up to $100 free.

Most sites are totally fine for withdrawing, must just be a bad experience.

Yeah, if you use a credit card that's what they tell you to do...after reading that on their site, I made this thread.

There's got to be some Americans out there that are big on a certain service...unless our government owns us that much.

If I only want to drop $100 on a fight the gas costs more getting to the stateline and back...

It sucks for us, because our bank accounts can't be tied to the site...there's some kind of law prohibiting the banks from transacting business with the gaming enterprises.

It looks like you have to select an online middleman or cash transfer agency, to use between you and the service.

Haha I hear ya. I was just stating $100 as an example. Let me know which you choose to place your bets if you do it online. I've been having a hankering to start placing some money down lately.
