Who inspired your love for the sport of boxing? Who was the boxer you watched as a kid who got you addicted to the sport?

I'd like to find out how boxing became your favourite sport, whether you watched as a child, or came to the sport late. Was said boxer active at the time, or was it a great boxer from the past. Did the sport and a certain boxer inspire you to give boxing a go yourself, like myself?

My Dad and I used to watch boxing together when I was a young boy...I've been in love with the sport ever since. It's up to all of us to ensure the lineage gets passed on. If we are passionate about the sport and have more knowledge about the sweet science than most sports fans, it's up to us to educate and get the ball rolling around us. We have that distinct privledge as boxing fans.

My dad did exactly the same, he used to have a boxing book and he'd tell me about all the bouts the greats used to have.

Mine too. He had fight tapes so I always knew of boxers but didn't really appreciate the sport until I sparred with buddies in one of my friend's backyards whe I was 14. If it wasn't for RJJ too I probably would't follow boxing either. Boxing is better than most other addictions because sex addiction can cause emotional pain and drug addiction pointlessly impairs your body. In boxing your body can be injured but you fight for a legitimate reason even if that reason is just to beat the **** outta someone. In my opinion boxing is the best addiction:hat

Hatton's always been exciting hasn't he though...not surprised he attracted some fans to the sport on his way up. I remember watching him fight amateur in Manchester, and he stopped the kid in one round. Don't ask me how I remember him from that long ago... :D

The first fight I remember watching with any interest was Lewis-Tyson in 2002. My dad was a huge Tyson fan and like most people at the time, still thought the fight would be close. I remember watching Lennox's great performance and after that I started following the sport more closely.

The first fight that really got my attention was Bruno v Tyson. I hadn't properly heard of Tyson before, so I was very confident Bruno was going to knock him out in the first round...I even went round bragging to anyone who would listen that Bruno was going to win. :patsch I was only about 6 years old though.

My dad got me into the sport, through old DVD's and youtube. Remember watching fights like Hagler/Hearns and Benn/Mclellan with him whilst he explained all the build ups etc. He fell out of love with the sport somewhat though recently, so i am carrying it on for him. Probably would have to agree with watching some of Hatton's fights, especially the Kostya Tszyu one which helped my liking of the sport along nicely. I'd say i was pretty casual for 2/3 years, only watching big fighs available to me on skysports up until about 2 years ago when i really started talking about it non-stop with mates, watching as much as i could on any channel/stream and eventually ended up here like the rest of you!

    Anthony I dont understand!

-In 2002 you went around telling people Bruno would whoop Tyson in one rouind and you was age 6.

-This means you was born either '95 or '96.

-Yet you remember watching Hatton fight as an amateur in Manchester. Hatton turned Pro in 1997 so you was 1 or 2 years old.

How the **** can you remember that?

  15. Bruno Fought Tyson twice. The one in the '90s was the SECOND fight...go look at boxrec.com and re-do your math. :patsch
