So Tyson fought Bruno in 96. More than likely the same year Anthony was watching Hatton's amateur fight in Manchester. Yet he hadn't heard of Mike Tyson. FOR REAL?

  3. Great thread.

My dad was a pro boxer when I was a kid. He was active from 1988 to 1995, http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=295226&cat=boxer (one of his fights isn't on boxrec.) Even though he had a less than stellar record we moved to Las Vegas in 1988 where he immediately got involved with Miguel Diaz and Top Rank. He was a main sparring partner for Riddick Bowe before the second Bowe - Holyfield fight. I got to meet alot of famous boxers and trainers including Floyd Sr., Roger Mayweather, Eddie Futch, Marlon Starling...and countless others.

Aside from his boxing career he had me and my brothers watching ALL boxing. I distinctly remember the first fight I watched on TV, it was Tyson vs. Holmes. I also remember watching Leonard vs. LaLonde and Leonard vs. Hearns II.

I started getting really into baseball and for most of the '90s and I lost interest in boxing except for the really big fights. In 2004 I went to a rare PPV party at my work where we watched B-Hop KO De La Hoya and my interest in the sport was renewed a little... Then Hatton vs. Tszyu and Castillo vs. Corrales propelled me headfirst into obsession. So in a way I'm a newer fan of boxing with a built in knowledge of the sport's history because of my dad's career and affiliation with the boxing scene here in Vegas. Good Times.

    Tyson.

It seemed like he used to fight almost every other week in the 80's and i'd get up sunday morning to see the coverage on itv (I think) of the previous nights action.

    He was ****ing awesome!

  5. God are you guys really attacking this dude for "not properly hearing of Tyson" when he was 6 years old?

I now understand why there are so much juvenile-preteen posting on here: Let's say about 90% of you guys voted in 2008 for the first time in your life or just gotten rid of your braces.

  8. Love these blanket statements. Ya know...my aunt had braces on into her 30's, and my younger brother, despite being 26 years old, has never voted in his life. So what exactly is it that you are trying to say here?

  9. Why are you 'tards trolling this perfectly good thread???

This is what I am talking about. Lighten up a bit, it's all in fun.

  12. Yeah but some of us are kinda new to the forum so we don't mind seeing these great threads even if they are repeats from years ago. This isn't an information forum, the thread yer talking about wasn't made into a sticky, and if yer new to the forum I would assume you aren't gonna be searching through 150 pages of old threads for a good one to revive. Jeez be nice to the noobs.

  13. So...were you talking about all the young posters? Or all the super serious posts? You seem to be contradicting yourself a bit. :bbb

they get bumped every now and again anyhow.

I am talking about the young posters who let their emotions overcome them.
