I'm sorry for asking so many questions but recently sparred with someone much better than me. Since I'm often taller and an outfighter I just keep them away with the jab and try to create an opening. This guy just ate/blocked my jab and managed to get inside and hit me clean on the jaw several times and basically countered my jab. Already went a lot better when my trainer told me to not just throw a jab but just do a right left combo (southpaw) to keep him away and prevent him from countering me, what are some other tips?
As a tall rangey southpaw you should work the jab, right hook and straight left. Try and opperate from the outside. Work on feints too, as mentioned above.
mix it up dont be predictable. Feint the jab then straight left to the body/right hook to the body. Work on your movement and your ability to stay out of range.
When your opponent is clearly better than you the best thing you can do is out work them out hustle them and out tough them and out heart them is that simple. Take their will away and make them question themselves. :hat
Learn from the experinece...Ok the cat when thru your jb...so you need to give more angle. keep jabbing, follow up with right hand and tie the cat up....follow the pattern...to cancel his advantages in skill level....
