Now hear me out, this is what I mean by old man sport... We have refs in their 50's,old announcers that are in their 60's,judges in their 70's promoters in their 80's.. I think MMA has the upper hand, now boxing has plenty of younger fans 15-35, but something needs to be done as far as marketing, boxing is getting better 24/7.face off,the Show Time mini Docs etc.. Maybe it is just because boxing has been around for a hundred plus years "the business side" and these guys been around since the 70's etc..I just think more needs to be done to appeal to the youth.
Ufc mma is the sport for beer drinking suburban white boys that are mostly skinheads wearing nothing but pink panties sweating as they roll on the ground like homosexuals and when they do fight on their feet and throws punches, they easily get ktfo because they have no chins.
It's true...we need more young blood in the sport. The announcers and refs make it look bad. Get some young guys in there that are excited and maybe even a little nervous. Every time I hear Larry merchant speak it's embarrassing.
UFC is just trying to be cool with the kids, it's been on a bit of a high for some time now, but it will have its rough times just like boxing. I can tell you that most of my friends who are "mma fans" actually don't follow the sport that closely at all, they don't know fighters records most of the time, who has found who in the past, or anything. They just buy the ppv to watch while they get pissed. And yes, they say boxing is old, mma rules and is the future.
Max Kellerman is a breath of fresh air,yes he does get on tangents, but there are times when Larry just takes forever to finish a sentence.. That's the power structure, the judges getting paid again and again, not giving room for up and coming people associated with boxing... What is the lowest age for a judge 50? Would be nice to see a guy in his late 30's judging do they exist? Goes to show how in boxing the same crew runs it behind the scenes, the same guys that have changed the outcome of many huge fights based on biassness and they still keep their jobs.. Jerry Roth-71 Dave Moreti-68 Duane Ford-74
Nothing wrong with MMA. At the end of the day it's still a combat sport, I'd watch it over any of the other sports except boxing. You may fight with your little kid brother, but at the end of the day he still family and means more than your cute female neighbor
