With the recent charge by Berto that Ortiz may have been taking PED's, many people are blaming Floyd for all the recent talk about PED's and such.

Basically saying that, without Mayweather's desire for Pac to take testing and the insinuations that come with it, no one would be talking about PED's at all.

This, of course, is complete BS.

PEDs in sports is a reality. There are so many MLB and NFL examples from this past decade alone that prove this to be true. Coverups, conspiracies, trials, and jail time have all resulted from many big time sports stars using PEDS.

This is not my opinion, this is a fact.

And in Boxing, the most dangerous sport of all, PED's have been an issue long before Floyd ever said a word. Fighters have either been caught, named as part of a conspiracy, or admitted that they did use designer steroids.

Again, this is not my opinion, this is a fact.

Whether or not Ortiz is on PED's is not really for me to say. My knee jerk reaction is to say no, but, unlike many people on here, I don't put fighters above using PED's.

If this is a concern for boxers, then something needs to be done. The big US fight states (Nevada, California, NY, Texas, etc.) should adopt a more stringent, year round blood and urine testing regimen. This would assauge many fighter's fears, and make them feel safer, which is a valid concern. Hopefully other states and countries follow suit.

I mean, if people are taking PEDs to hit baseballs, ride a bike, or run around a ****ing track, you don't really think people in a blood sport arent?

Victor Conte, Mr. Juice himself, has said that the boxing tests are a joke, and has spent years devising simple, easy ways to beat them. (He also knows how to beat tests in the MLB and other sports too). He literally thinks the tests are funny. Yes, he is a scumbag, but a scumbag with knowledge.

Max Kellerman even stated that he thought 7 of the top 10 heavyweights in the world were juicing.

There is a very strong undercurrent of fear in the world of boxing that PED's are being used freely by many, many fighters. The fighters, trainers, and Gym guys are speaking out, but only on the low, because of fear of lawsuits or being blacklisted.

In a sport where corruption has always been the rule rather than the exception, this issue needs to be addressed. And this isn't about any one fighter, or there preference for or against testing. This is about the safety of not only our favorite fighters, but our family members and friends who have dreams of becoming boxers themselves.

I doubt anything will really happen. Until, that is, somebody gets hurt really badly.....or worse.

Great Thread, amazing thread 100% agree.

a lot of people here are blinded by there fanboyishum, people tend to forget this are fighters who have family's most this fighters fight for there family's and to think that someone can use PED and take away someones life or give them brain damage to were they can't speak or walk. can you image some dickhead using PED getting away with it then beating up a fighter so bad that, that fighter is killed in the ring? what would that fighters family feel like? PED is wrong in the sport of boxing we need to clean this sport up no more of this PED users.

It would be sanctioned murder. And it would have to happen to a big star for people to stand up and demand better testing, which the sport, as it is, may not be able to withstand.

if you were concerned about their health you would be lobbying for making pro fighters wear headgear too

You have no evidence that steroids is a rampant problem in boxing, but we already have clear statistical evidence that concussions and head injuries can cause deaths for boxers

You make some good point but dont try to over sensationalize something especially when boxing will always be a COMBAT SPORT. With or without steroids, guys are going to get seriously hurt.

If we want to cut out most of the risks involved, let the guys wear headgear like in the amateurs instead of just focusing on steroids.

In most people the ends of the bones close around the age of 21-22. Therefore if an athlete uses growth hormone after this age, the circumference of their head, and their jaw will get bigger, as well as the bridge of the nose and the hands. if we see an athlete suddenly having a bigger head with a larger circumference or hands we can pretty much say he is either having a tumor which produces growth hormone or he is on PEDs. reminds you of someone doesnt it?

Why not? That's the main topic in boxing today. Will Pacquiao take the tests or will the fans miss the biggest fight possible today?

PEDS are part and parcel of human nature.

YOU might morally be against them. I AM morally against them. But that doesn't mean the next person is morally against them.

Human beings man. It's in our nature.

We'll find out later down the line cause people who roid tend to die early, such as many WWE stars. I don't mean that in a cruel way but it's true.
