Great thread on an important subject. I agree with everything the poster said as well as Lou Dibella saying that all major title fights should have testing. This sport is dangerous enough without guys using illegal substances. As many of the athletes in the more mainstream sports get caught, it's not at all unlikely that there are boxers doing it as well. And it's a shame because until they figure out a more stringent testing procedure, clean athletes will be getting wrongly accused and cheaters won't even get caught. I love sports as much as anybody but I also am getting sick of wondering if what I'm watching is real and a result of years of hard work or artificial thanks to illegal supplements. I know baseball burned me out thanks to Chemical Barry and the other hundred boys of summer that were somehow crushing historical stats. Just like the NFL needs to start testing for HGH, boxing needs to at least test for world title fights as well. I think its a serious issue that deserves attention sooner than later.
The sanctioning bodies and promoters can require thier fighters to submit to random drug testing for each of the championship bouts, it can't ALL be on the fighters. And saying that there is risk in boxing is obvious Lance. But that doesnt mean they should accept that cheating can happen and do nothing about it. If the promoters and sanctioning bodies push for it, then it will happen, just like when they want thier fighter ranked, or they want a paper title for an up and coming boxer they are pushing, or when old bums get title shots because they are with a certain promoters with influence, or when a sanctioning body wants fighter of a certain ethnicity to have one of thier belts. But the issue is that there are some in boxing who want to avoid this at all costs....
See, this is the ****ing ******ed logic I just can't stand. Random testing for two months doesn't do jack ****. OSDT occurs throughout the year, every year. You ****ing clowns don't have a clue. Do you think HGH works overnight? :rofl
You really are upset about this. Why? I open a discussion about the need for better testing and you have an emotional response, cursing and being a dick. Why?
Because I don't think any of you are serious about starting OSDT in boxing. If you were, you'd realize what a daunting task it really is. Nope, all this **** is just more Floyd vs. Manny, internet warrior bull****.
A daunting task?? Let me ask you this: If somehow year round ODST was announced to be the norm for fighters going forward, who exactly would suffer from this and why?
Yeah, a daunting task. Who's going to regulate it? Who's going to supervise it? Who's going to administer it? Who's going to be in charge of testing it? Who's going to pay for it? What about fighters outside the US? Apply each of those questions to those fighters as well, and then add in logistics management. Once you have an answer for each of those questions, you let me know.
It's going to have to come from the sanctioning bodies and the promoters. They have all the power to make or break the sport, and some of those sanctioning fees that they force on fighters who wish to be "champions" can go towards the funding of the program. They can get the commissions from the top fight states and reps from WADA to sit down and come up with a program. It is NOT too big of a deal that nothing can be done about it. The thing is, you act as if even discussing it is some sort of terrible thing, which, given the reality of steroids in all sports, is very troubling, to say the least. And not everyone that wants ODST is a Pac hater. It's just that I find the "it's too much to try to solve this problem, so just let it stand" attitude to be a dangerous one that is going to get someone hurt.
lol, you were bad-mouthing the SAC's, yet, you wanna rely on the sanctioning bodies to get OSDT started? Good luck. This will take government intervention for it to happen. And if it does, what's to keep foreign fighters from just fighting in Mexico and Europe? Good luck, man, but, I'm guessing you'll be holding your breath for a long time.
And, I'm still waiting for all this proof that PED's are running rampant through the sport. Or, is this just more baseless speculation. :vomit:
