On Setanta Sports 1 at 8:00pm UFC80:Rapid Fire
On Setanta Sports 2 at 8:00pm Chagev vs Skelton (WBA H/W Title)

Be intresting to see what comes out on top in the ratings. If UFC squashes the boxing could we see Setanta investing in MMA more than Boxing, that would be a nightmare. Shame theres not a bigger fight being scheduled to go up against them.

You call that a head to head? UFC80 will get more buys than Matt Skelton you can believe that. But to be fair apart from Penn Stevenson as the main event the rest of the card is very weak.No one cares about Gonzaga or Werdum or the the rest of the TUF flotsam on that bill.

The avaerage guy on the street will tune in to watch skelton, flick over and watch UFC, realise how **** it is and switch back, then realise how **** boxing is, and then let his misses put on dancing on ships or something!

Its a british fighter going for the World Heavyweight title, it still means soemthing. If setant had not picked it up, someone else would have.

I like some aspects of it but any sport that you can pick up and be world class in a couple of years clearly doesn't take much skill. I reckon a decent boxer with ok floor technique and grappling skills would absolutely dominate. There are some good fighters about... Paul Daly is not bad at all.

You never know skelton might put on a show. I mean the british public deserve a decent performance from him after the sprott debarcle.

Jeff that post is indicative of your knowledge on MMA which from that post is zilch. These debates have been done time and again and there futile.Il keep it real im a fan of both but if i had to choose one it would be the sweet science. But when theres a thousand more ways to skin a cat trust me having a an "ok floor technique and some grappling skills along with boxing" there isnt one current pro who would dominate in the MMA and that includes PBF.

What would be even better is if Skelton dropped to the floor and subbed him with a flying scissor heel hook.

UFC will win this battle, I doubt anyone truly cares about this fight, Skelton really isn't very good.
Although this UFC is pretty bad at least it has more than 1 fight of interest.

How would you explain Chuck Liddell's dominance of MMA? For a lot of his wins during his UFC career, he was never on the ground. Now he is't a good boxer at all, so surely you could say a boxer with very limited ground skills, like Cintron, could be successful like Liddell was? Not as successful, maybe, but still do alright.

If Chuck could do it with his terrible punching form, maybe Cintron could too. Liddell has less skill, power and speed for sure.

Have you seen Chucks "Boxing"? Its horrendous. It works well in the MMA but in a boxing ring he wouldnt even be a journeyman. Remember Chuck is exceptional at staying on his feet.Name me one other MMA fighter that possess`s great hands and a great takedown defense and il assure you there HOF material.
