Ive just started on this web page. Ive been doing boxing for 5 months now and am only an amature with lots to learn. Id like to know if i culd/should do weightlifting before or after boxing training? I use to do bodybuilding then stopped when i got into boxing. Im now lean as hell with lots of energy. I like my look but would like to put on more muscle as i am too skinny to my liking. Lolz. I know that building muscle will affect my flexability, endurance and others bt id like to know how do boxers build muscle. When i asked a boxer, he told me that i shuld do weightlifting before boxing training bt when i asked a bodybuilder he told me to do the opposit. Lolz. Id like to add weightlifting to my daily exercise routines. Any suggestions?
Split them up completely, different days would be idea, if not morning and night. Um, not if you do it properly. Same as everyone else, consume more calories and lift heavy weights. If you're going to lift weights as a boxer you want to build strength, more muscle will be a by-product of this. It's best to split training up completely as they will both negatively affect each other if done closely. Strength training then boxing will lead to poor technique and exhaustion in the ring or whatever you're training that day. Attempting to learn something technical when you're fatigued = very poor results. Boxing then strength training will leave you weakened from boxing so you won't be able to weight train to your full potential. One thing to take away from this is don't ask boxers or bodybuilders about weight training for performance, 99% are absolutely clueless.
