An interesting article. I think sport in general can have a positive role to play and devoting yourself to any discipline has obvious benefits. As for boxing specifically - I can see that it could be a useful outlet for some to channel their aggression in a more appropriate manner than indulging in street violence for instance. It is also a sport which does allow you to focus on the individual rather than being part of a team. Boxing is not a cure all though as the causes of anti social behaviour are often deep seated problems and extremely stubborn in their resistance. I suspect part of the goverments reason for considering the re-introduction of boxing in schools is because the sport is enjoying increased popularity at the moment. If it is a serious initiative I hope they are prepared to invest in it adequately as sport in many schools is still under funded and suffers from a lack of suitable facilities and equipment. I expect some schools and parents may have an issue with it (particularly from a risk and safety aspect) and may require some convincing.
