Its all about who you know.

Find the best gym in your area, kiss up to every trainer personally, and mine the crap out of their network.

My work as a sparring partner and my being able to get the recommendation of those employers has meant I never have to look to hard for a profitable fight.

Second though, is abandon the thought of having a good record and being a contender unless you really are that good. I turned down alot of profitable fights early cause I didnt want the loss. Promoters always need somebody who will lose well after a game effort, and quite often are willing to pay for it. If your in boxing for the cash, this is how you make the most of it in the shortest time without being quite good at your craft.

So your willing to get knocked out by being an opponent for an up-an-comer? For some extra bucks....?

I'd rather pan-handle for loose change.

Thats you, I never been put out and if its just something I don't want to go through again then it will teach me a lesson won't it?

I can die a happy man if I have one or two pro fights.

There are plenty of guys who box as an extra income, most of them don't care for their fight record or don't have the skills to get far, they take fights on short notice, move up and down in weight classes alot, many of them fight pretty often and on top of your weekly wage isn't a bad income.
I don't think this would be good for your health though and I personally would never do it, most of these type of fighters are overmatched and used to pad out the up and comers records.
I think an option for you if you wanted to make money from boxing is to have a couple of pro fights and see how you go, but if you have abit of knowledge you could do personal training teaching boxing, you'd be suprised how many people like to do personal training at my gym fir whatever reason.. Some are mums doing it for fitness, others just like to learn straight from the trainer 1-1, anyway it pays good money without the health risk of being someones punching bag, so that's always an option

Yeah that last part will probably be the best, but I would want at least one or to peop pro fights to add to my cred. It would be like a credential or something. Me personally, don't like phonies.
