d) being ugly or "mannish" doesn't mean you automatically must have a pecker (in this case it does represent a byproduct of higher testosterone levels, as well as the Y chromosome); you don't know what genitals imane khelif has unless you've undressed with her.

Carini didn't even give it a go, though. She got hit twice and quit. I think she probably read all the stuff about Khelif being "male" and psyched herself out, shame.

Let's put things into perspective, shall we? Imane Khelif hails from Algeria. This is a very conservative Muslim country where sex change operations are illegal. There are photos of Khelif with her sister when they were little girls.

She has what's called hyperandrogenism - that's why she previously failed an IBA "gender test" spiking too high for their allowed testosterone level thresholds for women to compete. She isn't a male, though. She was cleared by her own (again, conservative Muslim country) and then by the IOC upon review as phenotypically and biologically female.

The right is fanning the flames here and spreading all kinds of misinformation because they desperately want to have a trans boogeyman to manufacture outrage about.

You can hold the good-faith opinion that women with XY chromosomes or who have hyperandrogenism competing with "regular" women violates the spirit of competition - that's fine. But sharing videos of Khelif beating that Mexican chick two years ago saying it was from these Olympics, saying that she was definitively born male and is trans, saying that an opponent died in the ring (??) - all of this is easily disproven misinformation and the people who jump to spread it are outing themselves as overeager culture-war gotcha junkies.

 

There has been a very aggressive coordinated push to disseminate the narrative that "woke Olympics are letting men beat up women" despite there being no such facts.
