Ref looks like the lovechild of Kristen Schaal and Alison Janney.

 

Álvarez is a bit wilder than you'd expect from a slick Cuban, slinging bombs and churning air.

Four of five judges still give him the opener, though.

 

This is very scrappy for two such high level operators. Lot of nervous energy in that ring.

Sinsiri got rocked in the final minute of R2.

 

Sloppy third. Álvarez smacked Sinsiri with a right hook for good measure just at the bell as they were spinning clear of a clinch.

Lasha Guruli (GEO) vs. Bazarbay Uulu Mukhammedsabyr (KAZ), Men's 63.5kg (light welter) quarterfinals

 

Guruli vs. Mukhammedsabyr maybe the most anticipated match of the day. (Sinsiri ain't bad, but he was supposed to lose the last one)

 

Very little scored in the 1st. Guruli clinched when they scrabbled inside, and both landed incidental fouls while tied up.

Judges gave it to Mukhammedsabyr.

 

Very bad cut on Guruli. Ref has the doctor look at it twice inside a minute.

 

Can't tell if Mukhammedsabyr is also cut or if that's just Guruli's blood smeared onto his forehead.

 

As much as I was looking for to it, not a great mix of styles.
