    Look out for:

Richardson (GBR, men's 71kg), Villegas (PHI, women's 50kg), Harrington (IRL, women's 60kg), Petecio and Szeremeta (PHI and POL respectively; squaring off in a corker of a women's 57kg semifinal!), Jalolov of course (UZB, men's 92+kg), Álvarez (CUB, men's 63.5kg), Khyzhniak (UKR, Men's 80kg), Ngamba (EOR refugees, Women's 75kg), Dusmatov (UZB, men's 51kg), and both combatants in the men's Heavyweight final: Domínguez (AZE) and Mullojonov (UZB).

Those are my p4p MVP dirty dozen of the Olympics.

To my understanding, there's even some question about whether she and Lin actually failed the testosterone test. According to the IBA's own minutes, they passed all eligibility tests (which would include tesosterone) at the beginning of the 2023 Worlds. It was only midway through the tournament (after Imrane had defeated a Russian opponent, fwiw) when they were said to have failed that unspecified gender test. Seems sketchy. And, by "seems", I mean "is".

My fellow Nova Scotian, Wyatt Sanford, got kinda jobbed today, btw. But, I'm happy he at least gets a bronze.

This fight tells you everything you need to know about IBA's credibility:

That was too early for my blood, after staying up for Crawford vs. Madrimov until the wee hours.

We are 88.5% of the way through (with 208 of 235 bouts completed) and speaking as someone that has closely followed boxing in every Olympiad since Athens - this has mostly been REALLY good.

Loads of heart & skill on display. Overshadowed, unfortunately, by absolute nonsense. :ohno

I didn't see his semifinal bout but I saw two of his others bouts in the earlier stages and he's one of the fighters who has impressed me in these games.

Luckily I managed to catch a replay of Khyzhniak vs Lopez just now and by chance too. Really good fight and performance by Khyzhniak against a fellow amateur great. To be honest, I don't see how Khyzhniak needed to win round 3 big to ensure victory. I didn't really score round 1 and will have to watch it again but you couldn't help but score round 2 because he completely dominated it and he should've won it 5-0. He completely dominated it but round 1 didn't look like a domination to me.

Khyzhniak has lost one fight in like 8 years, which cruelly for him came with what was it like 30-50 or so seconds left to go in round 3 of the Olympic final in a fight he had been completely dominating and lost due to sheer recklessness. He was fighting like he desperately needed to win those last seconds of the bout but he really didn't. He basically threw the gold medal away due to idiocy.

But now he's a 2 x Olympic silver medalist, I'm assuming is a strong favourite to win gold even though I haven't seen his opponent, and should he win gold it could so easily have been 2 x gold had he not been so foolish in the last final.

And FTR, it's a miracle he has only been stopped once in his career because who wouldn't you pick to get stopped multiple times fighting with that style? He's obviously crazy strong and durable

So annoying how they've made it almost impossible to find any replay uploads online.

Gee, you know what might drum up interest and buzz for Khyzhniak's finals match? Oh idk, maybe GETTING MORE EYEBALLS ON HIS PREVIOUS BIG WINS (beyond just whoever caught it live).

This whole "your one and only source for..." IP and marketing approach is such a shoot oneself in the foot moment.

Yeah I know and by a perfect left hook right on the money. I can't remember exactly how long was left in the round but I think it was like 30 seconds or maybe a bit more but not a minute IIRC

    Khyzhniak almost got robbed.

How did that Lopez guy even get judges to give him 1 round let alone almost win that fight? He got dominated, didn't land anything except some counters while going back the whole fight. Horrible scorecards there
