    Well deserved for Ragan.

I thought he was having a hard time figuring out the rangy, busy Ghanian. That last round was very impressive from him.

    Round 1

Davis is backing into a corner zipping jabs out sidearm into the forehead of Mamedov like a croupier dealing cards, and then changing it up with a more sinuous version of the jab, a breaking-ball past the bicep and into the upper chest of Mamedov. Lots of looping rights on the floating rib, and heavy left hooks bopping down on the crown of Davis by Mamedov. Swarming busy aggressive pressure from the Russian, but Davis able to pull the rug out from under him, remain the ring general and counter effectively on the lateral step.

    10-9 Davis

They should have been unanimous for Davis in the 1st, but the Peruvian judge somehow found a way to give it to Mamedov. :dunno

That Peruvian had a bit to much of his nation's marching powder.

    Round 2

Flailing roundhouses from Mamedov coming in, mostly caught on the outer elbows but throttling any momentum Davis can build with circling and throwing combos off the jab. Very long, awkward, energy-consumptive grappling sessions where both men's arms get twisted at uncomfortable angles. Davis able to extricate himself without the ref's assistance, squat down and pop off a shoeshine into the breadbasket and then spiral out before Mamedov can do anything to him. Mamedov tries getting him in a waistlock but Davis shrugs loose and uses his leverage to fling Mamedov onto the canvas.

    10-9 Davis

    20-18 Davis
