I'm very impressed by Iglesias, I didn't expect a total schooling in the final like that. He made McCormack look a level below him, unprecedented performance.
Tomorrow's show: Women's flyweight semi-finals. Women's welterweight semi-finals. Jalolov vs Clarke & Torrez vs Kunkabayev. Arlen Lopez vs Benjamin Whittaker.
Ugh, all the shows the rest of the week start at the worst possible time for us in the USA - 2pm local time in Tokyo, which is 1am EST. The mix of late night and early morning sessions was brutal and yet it was at least manageable. This requires giving up a huge chunk of the middle of normal sleeping hours for the next five days if you want to catch everything.
That being said I've got a feeling in my waters Marcial might upset Khyzhniak. If he could do that and win the gold medal in style, along with his two impressive stoppage wins already..he would have to be in with a shout.
Iglesias of Cuba won his final fairly easy, second gold for him. Olympic silver for Pat McCormack to follow on from silver in the worlds. The Cubans will do ok for medals in the end. The middleweight and lightweight divisions are interesting imo.
Does Clarke have much of a chance of beating the favourite in the semis? He beat him back in 2014 so that’s something I guess
Yeah I get that. Torrez seems like a nice guy and I felt bad for him when Jalolov sparked him out cold so it's nice to see him grab a medal. Yeah, Jirov could box when he wanted to and it's a shame he neglected that side of his game.
