No, you felt the need to address someone with negativity, saying you were going to "douse your parade" and point out some irrelevant nonsense about land mass.

Why does the idea of Britain having some success make you so emotional?

That's like saying Jamaican success on the track wasn't important because it was women winning most of the medals.

This isn't about British talent turning pro and how good they may or may not be.

It's about amateurs at the Olympics as part of a team.

    That's all.

Again, like the other poster, it seems like the idea of Britain getting credit makes you emotional.

    Why is that?

Sadly, there is going to be no Val Barker Trophy awarded for this Olympiad. :ohno

backstory: AIBA was stripped of all rights of governance of boxing at the Games in 2019 when embroiled in mismanagement scandals, with the IOC creating its own Boxing Task Force to administrate them instead - the first time in a century it hadn't been done by AIBA.

Now, the BTF has no affiliation with AIBA, nor did they receive any mandate to continue any of that organization's traditions including the creation of a committee to deliberate the best p4p boxer of the Olympics. AIBA owns all rights pertaining to use of the name of the VBT or likenesses of its hardware - and they've been ousted by the IOC.

My hope was that AIBA would do the mature thing and still present a trophy in both the men's and women's division just to keep the succession alive, so as to not punish the athletes themselves for its struggles with the IOC. Being that it now is Wednesday morning in Tokyo, three days after the closing ceremony, and that AIBA neither sent a single representative to Tokyo nor has made a statement since (in past years it usually is on the same day the festivities conclude - in 2016 both Hasanboy Dusmatov and inaugural women's winner Claressa Shields were handed theirs while there were still events besides boxing ongoing on 8/21/16) - we can safely say the Val Barker tradition is dead...for now. At the very least, nobody is receiving it for the XXXII Tokyo Games.

For the first time in a long time i enjoyed olympic boxing. It was a breath of fresh air to see boxers fight because they wanted to prove they were the best and not because it was a business decision.

Why did Pipo get banned? I hope it wasn't by Prof for 'nationalistic trolling', in this instance where it was blatantly Syrup provoking everything.
