There was an article on this in Boxing Monthly a British mag but I think it's great that boxing is being brought back to large open air stadium's, really gives a chance for fans who don't have the cash to go to Vegas and it brings casual watchers off the streets gets tham back into the sport like the big fights of old. That stadium where Pacquiao fought Clottey was impressive even indoors but I liked the feel of yesterdays fight at the Home Depot. Anyone don't like fights in stadiums, I know I'd like to watch a big fight with a couple of hundred fans in a front room but... Apparently Arum plans Lopez v Gamboa in the Meadowlands stadium New Jersey 2011:yep:yep
For the exact reason of bringing boxing back to the masses, absolutely I'm having a hard time thinking of a negative to it. It may not make hardcore fans out of viewers but it can help familiarize them with some up and comers or even champions that are generally unheard in the mainstream. It's those viewers that know of the fighter and are willing to watch them again that help PPV numbers.you can't make 1 mil+ off just hardcore fans.
