160K PPV for 2 unbeaten top 5 p4p fighters. It's not good. UFC had 1.7 mil a few weeks before.

I think there still is the May Pac PPV hangover. A lot of fans turned off boxing when the biggest fight ever was a dud.

Which brings me to GGG Canelo. It's the next super fight. And more importantly, I think it will be a real fight.

It would post big numbers, it would be a tear up (I'm a fan of GGG but feel Canelo wins the fight as he would get his shots off first) but the main thing is people would buy it, and see a real fight, and draw back the fans that boxing is losing from the lack of action in these fights, especially with the UFC stars actually performing..

Or is there another fight capable of capturing the public's imagination?

Joshua - Klitschko will be big the UK, and if Aj wins, Joshua - Wilder could be a megafight.

Agreed. Joshua v Wlad will be a super fight as long as things go to script.

Haye v Bellew is box office. Khan Brook is still quite big.

I agree, boxing needs Canelo vs GGG....fast

05.02.2015 was the death of the PPV model in America....nobody trusts boxing ppv anymore after that 100$ rip-off

Eubank Jr is the next hope, 10x the star appeal and talent of the leprechaun.

When CEJ beats GGG boxing will be king again

We're in a bad spot hinging all hopes for boxing on any one fight. Whatever it is, it's bound to be a letdown. We need to see more mid-tier fights between guys trying to make a name on basic cable or free TV. Walters made a valid point that too many good fighters are cooling their heels while all the money goes to the top 1%, if you will. It's not helping the sport as a whole.

Nothing is stopping that fight from happening in May of 2017. Well except for Oscar and Canelo. LOL.

Dude realistically Nelo-GG probably tops out at 800k-1mil at best, PPV isn't dead there just aren't any stars that capture the masses attention like that.

Everyone is confused by Manny and Floyd those guys were huge generation talents, who got big by usurping the previous big star, these new fighters haven't put in the work to get to that point which is why none of them are selling. Even then for a guy like Ward or GG 100+k is good for them, just like 300k is good for a fighter like Canelo until someone gives the masses a real reason to tune in your going to have these types of numbers.

The problem is us as fan's overrated these guys worth and popularity, none of these guys right now are Floyd, or Oscar or even a Cotto. for all the flack they caught none of these so called draws have done what they did to reach that status.

Would be great if he did. His dad admitted after the fight fell through that Jr wasn't ready for him.

And he aint. He needs a run out before end of year then a legit top 10 contender early next year. Murray would be ideal.

The lack of an undercard as well. Fighters who are talented seem to think they have a god given right to earn multi millions without doing anything to earn it. Then when they get a PPV they don't want to budget for an undercard and it impacts numbers.

Take the UK. Joshua v Molina is a poor fight. But cos of his appeal with the casuals, and the fact that Whyte Chisora will make headlines and box office build up...the event will be a huge success.
