Agreed. Mike Costello is a fantastic commentator, absolutely electric on the radio, conveys a big fight like no other.

no idea how he translates to telly though but assume he remains a great commentator. The zone giving stunning value for my £1.99 a month.

Cure for Insomnia Darren Barker and Bellend of the week Bellew shows that hair piece Hearn is choosing his mates for the job.

Neither of those are up to it.

Maya is an understandable eye candy choice but then why do you need Laura Wood, who is a football commentator anyway?

    She isn't a commentator. She's a presenter and she's good.

I don’t see why you need to have 2 women on a Presenting team for a sport that is 99% male spectator and participation. It’s insane.

I would rather listen to an ex boxer or professional coach talk about the fights, but that is just me.

They might actually make some worthwhile points about the fight or the boxers.

They rarely ever have on all the years Matchroom have been with SKY.
They have generally just cheer-led and spouted absolutely drivel and propaganda.

I'd rather keep the sound off entirely, to be honest. I watch the fights but the punditry is mostly a waste of time. Gives us something to talk about on here though, I guess.

You seem to be struggling to understand the roles of the presenter and the analysts.

Can still have presenters who've played the sport they are presenting, Gary Lineker for example. I'd like to see a presenter with vast boxing knowledge who asks pressing questions and opens good debates, not some bird who's clueless on the sport.

I don't see the point in all these pundits at all.
All boxing needs is a couple of ringside commentators, three at most.

Reg Gutteridge and Jim Watt, with Dickie Davies introducing.

Harry Carpenter used to carry it on his own.
Maybe Des Lynam back at the studio with one ex-boxer.

Lol do you think you can just get any boxer or trainer to present a show. You actually need to know what you are doing.

Gary Linekar may present football shows as an ex player but that is extremely rare.

How many Football shows, Boxing, Rugby, F1, Darts or any other sport have the lead presenter being an ex practitioner of that particular sport?

Presenting TV shows usually involves having experience and media training as it actually takes some skill to do it correctly.

The idea you can just get some boxers or trainers to do it is quite ridiculous.

Surely you can see that they haven't just hired some eye candy but they have picked two women who actually have careers presenting a TV show.

Same here, in fact I go one step further, I mute the sound, AND I drape a dark sheet over the telly, that way I don’t have to hear OR see the fights but can still come on here and talk about them :)

Don't think any of it particularly matters in all honesty, the average fan will not be signing up because of the presenters and pundits it's the quality of the fighters and fights that matters.

You could have Reg Gutteridge and Jim Watt on commentary with Duke McKenzie and Barry McGuigan as pundits but if the average card is going to be Matchroom fighter A vs a 6-10 Armenian it won't matter
