Just watched Kell Brook (probably my favourite fighter) take out Senchenko, Kell is from the famous Ingle Gym in Sheffield who have produced great fighters, he has been there since he started. It has made me think about something which has been troubling me, ive been Boxing since September 2012 and im 18 now, instantly I picked it up quickly and it has all come quite natural to me, becuase of this I love it and definitely see a future in it for myself. However, next year I may be going to Uni somewhere here in the UK, I really dont think I will go if I cant find a decent gym near it. Even if I do, surely its not healthy for a fighter to switch gyms like that during the developing stages from novice to intermediate if they are looking to pursue this seriously. generally are you better off sticking at once place?. On a positive note, my side of London is probably the least desirable for Gyms, I may have my skill harnessed at a better gym but thats the ideal situation. I have a video of my fight with only 6 months training against a guy with 3 fights and a year and a half's training (he has gone on to compete in novice championships) I was pleased with my performane and got some amazing feedback in my inbox on here. Im a lot better now as its been 7 months, not more waving the right hand etc. Check it out if you like... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3V4hA-l7Z8
I dont know that it will affect your growth that much, a coach can only do so much... "keep the doors open long enough and eventually the right kid will walk through them" However it may...
