What cities in the United States and the rest of the world have the richest boxing histories?

    http://www.phillyboxinghistory.com/gyms.htm

Philadelphia, PA is at or near the top of the list.

I was in Central Philadelphia a few weeks ago and saw a sign for Juniper St.

I was like, that ring's a bell (no pun intended, though I was only a few blocks from the Liberty Bell, LOL)

Then, I remembered Saad Muhammad started boxing at Nick Belfiore's Juniper St. Gym.

Sadly, many of the old Gyms are closed.

The legedndery Blue Horizon venue is still standing, for now. I should have tried to drive by it when I was there. apparently it just looks like a big 19th century house from the outside.

Detroit/Michigan has to be up there. I'd imagine NY is a given, too.

    Philly.

The noted philosopher Randall "Tex" Cobb once observed that on his first trip to Philadelphia to train he saw two winos fighting on the street and they were both hooking off the jab.

Boston and Brockton are within 15 minutes of each other and have produced ATG's like Saddler, Hagler and Marciano.
